In this two-day course, we examine the theory and practice of Structured Commodity Trade Finance in Emerging Markets. We explore the themes using real world case studies from across all the major commodity sectors and Emerging Markets, including examples from the Emerging Markets crises of the late 1990’s and the recent global credit crisis. Beginning with basic principles and continuing to all the various subsets of the topic, we will scrutinise the various SCTF structures, investigate the fundamental risks, contemplate the regulatory structures in the context of both specific local regimes and of the various Basel accords, look at the documentation, and most importantly, gauge how they performed through the crises.
